PAR is an organization that does research on an issue in their community (an insider). And all the information that the organization comes up with is from the community. They don’t just collect the information and let it sit there; they try and fix the problem. The data that is collected is done by the people actually going around and talking to the community. They actually get the opinions of the people, and how they feel about the issues. Traditional researchers however are of ten outsiders, so they don’t know what’s going on, and they don’t know what the community is about. The information that the traditional researcher receives is just to give them more of an insight of what’s going on, they don’t put it to use. The data they collect is mostly what they see and hear, they don’t ask the community about the issues, they base it on their own data. Some data is false information but other information is good concrete data.

Most of the PAR studies are organized by people who have a problem with what’s going on in their community. They make it a priority to fix the problems in their community, and they make it priority to make their voice and the people heard. If people have an issue then they make sure that their issue is looked at or talked about at least. Most people are fed up with what goes on in their area so they talk about it as much as possible to fix what is going on. No one wants their neighborhood to be an area that has the most problems.
