Through the entire school year in Humanities we have done a great deal of assignments that have helped me grow as a writer, and I am glad that I was able to have the opportunity to have done these assignments, due to the fact that they have helped, which has help me in a great way.

The two pieces that I have choose to use to explain how I have grown as a writer were when we were assigned to discuss how we felt about the story of this country today, and about activism, and why it is important, what types of activism is taking place, and is the reason for it?  These topics were ones that I wasn’t to much interested in for the simple fact that I really didn’t care for those types of issues, because no one had really asked me to discuss the issues let alone discuss the, in a paper. This was something that I at first thought to be difficult, but I some how was able to it, and get every point that I had on the paper, and receive a great grade for it as well.

Firstly, I was assigned to do the paper on activism, and this was something that I had never really thought about, because I had never really protested or anything, and this were the only ways that I thought activism was, and I was wrong.  This paper was supposed to be about 3 pages, and as I got into it ended up being 4 page, because I was that interested in the topic once I began my research. I first begin my paper off with the definition of activism, and then I went into to saying “Many feel as though if you are a youth. This is something that is false for the simple fact that we are the “future”, and we are able to display that we can stand together to fight for what we believe in a non-violent  way then change can be made.” This was something that I found out to be so true for the simple fact that, because we have so many stereotypes on us, because we are younger, and because we have a reputation of being violent, lazy, loud and procrastinators that we are not able to complete anything or organize something that will better our futures.  This is something that a great deal of the older human race believes, because we do have some that fulfill these stereotypes, but there are some that are able to do good.

As I continued to go on with my paper I went on to discuss different events where teenagers organized ways to fight for what they believed, and this just helped better explain my paper. For instance, around the 1990’s Bill Clinton had passed a bill, because at the time the rate of juveniles’, had risen, and for that Clinton decided that juveniles should be tried as adults.  “Many agreed with this bill, it was one that many youth fought against, because they rather Schools not Jails”, but because of the stereotypes, the black youth were being targeted so they were always in trouble, or in jail. Once this occurred this is when many activism group and organizations began to spring up, the youth felt as though the government were assaulting the “citizenship of the youth.” Once I discovered this I was able to understand activism so much better, and this was something that I didn’t understand until I did my research on the entire topic.

The second piece of word that I decided to use was the paper that asked "what was the story of the country today"?

This was one that I wanted to discuss for a long time due to the simple fact that this world is crazy, and there are a lot of things that shouldn’t be occurring. The story of this country today is that the wealthy are entitled to everything and the poor are the ones, who really need things are supposed to work for it. This is something that this country doesn’t want to believe, but yet, and still it is the story of this society.  We are blinded to some of the truth, because we allow our selves to be, when we know that it is wrong.  This happens because no one wants to ruin their status in the community. Its and all for one and one for all type of society we have in this country.

Money is the key to your happiness, and if you have that then you will be okay.  Many may not have this, but to others, who are blessed don’t feel as though this is a problem.

In this country, usually the race is superior to the others better known as the minorities or African Americans in other terms.  This takes place in class, economic status, and even education.  White people are usually born into higher classes so they are obligated to the finer things in life and the better resource. This is one of the most important things to know because if you don’t, then you will not be able to understand the society and the way it works.

In the end, I feel as though that money rules the world and if you have it then you have a place in society, respect, and others notice you. This may seem a little shallow, but feeling left out is a horrible feeling to have. “God made everyone equal so no particular race should feel higher then another due to the social class they are in.”
