PROBLEM: What is the nature of the problem you planned to study? Why is it an important problem that needs to be addressed? Why is the research necessary, particularly by youth?

The nature of my problem is to find solutions of the adult perception of youth. Adults view youth in a negative way and they do not have trust in them. The youth have to make changes that will help in their communities. By doing this, the youth will have a great impact in their communities. Youth behaviors can be both negative and positive, but society seems to always see the negative side. Finding out why teens behave the way they do will help our communities understand them. The pattern that affects teens the most is not being heard by adults. As much as we try to be part of our communities, we get stepped down. Researching the problem will help the youth in their community involvement and their place in society. It may not help the youth everywhere but it may give youth an inspiration or motivation for change in their lives. The reason why adults see a pessimistic view on the youth is because of the certain ways they act. It can be the percentage of gang violence, pregnancy rate, drug abuse, stereotypes or their academic performance. Even with all the law, enforcement on violent/health issues is not acknowledged for teens to keep out of trouble. The youth seem to rebel against any enforcement/law that makes them feel threatened. Enforcing these laws doesn't always help because people will trust keep breaking them. What police need to do is find tactics that work with gang members and the youth and attempt to help them with their problems that causes them to act in such manners. The city needs to do research on the number of youth that are not doing violent acts and what causes them not to do it. In this, they will find the solution of how they can keep the youth off the street and doing something positive. The problem with the city and police is that they think optimistically about the youth but think of all the ways that they have done wrong. What adults notice about the youth is that they have many problems that cause them to be aggressive. These problems start wit their family and adult guidance to help the youth in their decisions in life.
