Q. What is the story of Boston today from the youth perspective? What information and whose voices capture that story?
To capture the voice of Boston's youth, I had to interview people that know the real streets of Boson. Gathering information and getting perspectives of peoples' lives brought out what Boston is made of. I interviewed three of Boston's youth; my older brother, Lostensky Charles, 21, Jiovanni, 18, and Kristina Perry, 17. I choose these three individuals because they go through the everyday struggles that capture the truth of violence in Boston's neighborhoods. I used Lostensky and Jiovanni because I wanted two of the male outlooks and I used Kristina because I know that she has a good outlook of what happens on the street.
The communities with the most problems are the communities that residents of urban neighborhoods can relate to. You can find how people are harassed based on their racial profile, their neighborhoods, their high school years, and how teens are viewed in a negative behavior as well as their ways. Everyone that I interviewed is of African decent and they are the ones that are negatively targeted. Young black teens that have to constantly fight for what they need. Things do not come easy for them so it is up them to break the silence and let their voices be heard.
